Imber, Shmuel-Yankev
(1889-1942)
   Yiddish poet, of Galician origin. He studied in Lemberg, and in 1912 emigrated to Palestine. In 1918 he went to Vienna, visited the US, but returned to live in Lemberg and Krakow. He was murdered in 1942. He was an innovator in Yiddish poetry. He wrote poems of longing for Palestine, and was also a polemicist against anti-Semitism.
